Find Priced-Right BMW Service

BMWs have a reputation for high quality engineering and craftsmanship. Many owners of “bimmers” (or beemer, beamer) claim they drive the best cars on the road in terms of performance, quality and luxury. That being said, BMWs are generally not known for being cheap and those who drive them might expect to pay more for BMW repair than they might for other types of automotive repair.

But just because you drive arguable one of the top-performing vehicles on the road doesn’t mean you should have to pay more than necessary for quality auto repair service. As with any vehicle, regular maintenance and inspections can prevent costly long term repair. Find a BMW specialist that can work with you and your vehicle to get it on a regular car care schedule (as advised by the manufacturer). You don’t need to be a qualified BMW mechanic to follow these basic car care tips:

  • BMW Oil Change & Air Filter Inspection – It is important for every vehicle to get regular oil changes, but this is especially true for bimmers. After all, what’s the point of driving a high performance, finely calibrated piece of machinery to have it run like your grandpa’s clunker? Anyone can look under the hood and inspect the air filters (they should be changed every 15,000 miles) and the vehicle’s oil level. Many BMWs use synthetic oil, which makes the 3,000 mile oil change obsolete. Even though you may need a oil change less often than before, it is still essential in keeping your high performing vehicle in top shape.
  • Check Coolant Levels and Other Fluids – Fluids are the lifeblood of any vehicle and a good deal of repair work, including BMW repair, is a direct result of improper fluid levels. Whether you are a BMW specialist or not, you can still check your coolant level and top it off as needed. This is particularly important during the summer months when your vehicle is at risk for overheating. Your engine can seize if your coolant runs dry, and this can be an expensive auto repair indeed.

BMW Auto Repair – Away from the Dealership

Many bimmer drivers fear taking their cars in for BMW repair to anyplace other than the dealer. They are concerned they won’t have the same BMW certified mechanics or the same OEM parts. This simply isn’t true. Many dealerships, however, rely on this misinformation to keep you coming to their overpriced repair shops again and again. So if you are looking for something new regarding your BMW repair, shop around and look for BMW specialist trained directly by the manufacturer (same as the dealership). It might cost you a whole lot less for the exact same quality of repair.
